Our Good Wishes to Sikh Brethren
Dr Mohammad Manzoor Alam offers his good wishes to our Sikh brethren, a vibrant community of the country on their auspicious Gurupurab.
Over five centuries also India witnessed the advent of one of the greatest men that had walked on its soil. That was Guru Nanak Deoji, known among Muslims as Nanak Peer.
His broad universalism and his monotheistic creed inspired the poet Iqbal to sing about India, “Nanak ne jis chaman mein wahdat ka geet gaya” (The garden in which Nanak sang the song of monotheism).
Iqbal sang paeans to him in another poem also, exclusively written on him. Over the centuries major Urdu poets followed the trend.
Nanak Peer was a unifier, creating a multi-cultural spiritual ambience. As many as 120 shlokas of Baba Fareed are included in Guru Granth Sahib.
On this august occasion I, on my own behalf as well as that of the All India Milli Council, of which I am General Secretary, extend to the Sikh Community warm greetings and wishes for their properity.
